Book Review- Finding Sky

Finding Sky

Have you ever been to a library, seen a book, and, almost on impulse, picked it up? Even if you have no idea if you’ll like it? That’s how you find the best books. That’s what happened here with Finding Sky.

My school library is wonderful. Everyone is blissfully silent and bookworms like me can wander around freely. I was walking by a shelf when this book caught my eye. The thing about this whole process is that you don’t know why- it just does. Anyways, I picked it up and I was amazed. It was like my brain knew exactly which books to select and my hands obeyed. I was utterly absorbed in the tangled world of Savants.

Sky Bright is a Londoner with a dark past. When she and her foster parents move to Colorado, America, Sky meets Zed, a brooding and utterly irresistible guy in her year. After a weird football match, Zed and Sky start a relationship, but this is no ordinary love…

This book is my favourite book right now and fear not, because it’s in a SERIES!!!!!!

This book in three words: TOTAL KILLER PLOT

I really hope you guys read this book because it is the actual best and I love it so so much,

Book Review- Allegiant

AllegiantAllegiant is the last in the amazing Divergent trilogy.

The faction-based society that once ruled Tris’ life is shattered. Chaos reigns, and the struggle for power continues.

Then Tris is offered a job. She must go out of the boundaries she’s known, out of the confines of the factioned world she once knew, and straight into the unknown. Maybe she and her boyrfriend Tobias will find peace and hope, there in the unknown. They could build a life for themselves.

But what waited for her on the other side was not what she had expected. Memories she had treasured, people she had loved, were cast away with the new tornado of truth that she faced. She faced impossible choices of love and sacrifice in the last book of an electric series.

This is a must-read for anyone, anyone at all. It is just amazing.

Book Review- Insurgent

InsurgentOne choice can destroy you

The second book in the Divergent series, Insurgent is written with honesty and passion as the world of the factions slowly falls apart.

Our protagonist Tris (formerly Beatrice) can only watch as the world she once accepted now lies in ruins around her. The end of her initiation to Dauntless was supposed to be a celebration but ended in utter chaos. With silent wars raging between the shattered factions, Tris must decide where she stands in the middle of it all.

Is it just me, or do you think Veronica Roth should have kept Fernando alive?! He was such an awesome character and I think he may have developed some romance with Christina if he had stayed alive. #FightforFernando

Also, who enjoyed the part with Tris’ peace serum? I died of laughter.

Thanks for reading and look out for the review of the last                                                                                  book in this brilliant trilogy!

Book Review- Divergent

DivergentOne choice can transform you

This book (and the other books in the trilogy- reviews to come!) is my favourite book of ALL TIME. That’s pretty impressive, seeing as I, obviously, have read a LOT of books.

This fast-paced, symbolic book is about Beatrice Prior, who turns away from her family and her birth faction and choosing a new one on her sixteenth birthday. As she struggles to adjust to her new life, she unveils a shocking secret about her identity. But who can she trust on this dangerous path that she has carved for herself, and who is her enemy?

This book is literally too good for words. I was entranced by                                                                          every word and am about to read it for the fourth time.

Book Review- Flawed

FlawedFlawed is, I believe, an extremely relevant book to modern society. As you may have derived from other blog posts, my favourite genre is dystopian, and I found that this book was exactly that.

The Guild, a futuristic government, holds a court trial whenever an action is deemed morally corrupt and charges the offender with one or more brands, differing according to the severity of the act. These people are Flawed.

Celestine North, the protagonist, stands up to the Guild for the first time after a lifetime of respect towards them.  The consequences of her humane actions loom ahead of her as she fights for freedom.

I have no words to describe how moving and thought-provoking this book was. This book needs to be recognised much more and I can guarantee that you will fall in love with it.

Also, it has a sequel- Perfect, where the fight for justice continues.

Book Review- The Potion Diaries

The Potion Diaries No. 1

This wonderful book by Amy Alward captures the life of a feisty young potion maker’s apprentice.

Samantha Kemi and her family are struggling to hold up their small potions business, as their rivals ZoroAster megapharma company flourish under the favour of the public.

But when the Princess of Nova accidentally takes the potion that was supposed to be for her crush, Samantha has a chance to redeem herself at the Wilde Hunt for the ingredients of the antidote to the serious illness. Above that, her dashing opponent, Zain Aster, will also be compering and social media will be tracing her every move. Well, no pressure, then.

Perfect for lovers of adventure-romance YA.

Book Review- Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index

Juniper Lemon's Happiness IndexThis book was absolutely amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed the tangled, unsure plot about a girl who was still recovering from the gaping hole her sister had left in her heart.

My friend let me borrow this after 15 minutes straight of begging after it caught my eye on her bookshelf. It has a very striking title, and it intrigued me.

I finished it that same night.

I think this book would be very enjoyable for those of the teenaged race who like the whole broken-girl-meets-badass-boy-and-they-fall-in-love kind of storyline. Admit it- you’re romantic at heart.

Book Review- The Flight of a Starling

The Flight of a Starling

Rita and Lo are sisters. They are closer than closer than close; they can tell each other everything. Lo loves dancing high on the trapeze, feeling as if she were on top of the world. Then Lo meets a boy, and suddenly, all she wants to do is stay on the ground. As dark truths and ugly secrets slowly tear her apart, how far would Lo go to stay grounded?

Flight of a Starling is a raw, uncultured hurricane of the confusing emotions of teenagerhood, with a backdrop of a flamboyant, colourful circus, but the reader gets a deep and true insight into the people behind the greasepaint as well.

In this harrowing story of happiness, love, pain and realisation, the reader is sure to be hit hard with barrels of deep and unfiltered emotion.

I’m Back!

Hi all,

I know it’s been a long time since I last posted. I am very sorry for cutting short this amazing experience, but now that all technical difficulties have been sorted out, I can continue blogging long-term.

Enjoy!

Book Review- Crow Mountain

Crow MountainCrow Mountain is one of the best books I’ve ever read, up there with Ethan’s Voice (which I’ve also reviewed). Here’s a little about it:

Emily has lived her whole life trapped by her mother’s strict rules. On her way to her wedding, a horrible accident occurs, only she is saved by a local horse-trader, Nate.

Hope has lived her whole life overshadowed by her mother, Meredith, who has her life all planned out for her. She’s kept quiet about her dreams until she met Cal.

Little did these girls know their destinies are intimately entwined, and that they will fall in love in their battle for survival…

An amazing book that drew me in, broke my heart and then mended it.
